i save it as jpg on the highest level (12). png is actually the clearest, but sometimes it will go over 500kb, and then tumblr makes it look worse. :| so i just go with jpg to be safe!
i use photoshop, so this is how i do it. select the part of the image you want to stretch. then go to edit > transform > scale and just stretch it as much as you want! :)
no worries. ♥ i’ve answered this question before, so please click the link below! :)

sure! i think it’s a really easy and effective tool. :)
personally, i like choosing darker colors (which may mean you need to brighten up your image after) like brown, purple, dark red, etc. most of the time i only choose one color to fade out, but sometimes i’ll use two different ones. i would try experimenting with the layer types to see what fits your image! soft light and darken are the ones i use most. checking the “reverse” box sometimes is a handy tool too. :)
hope that helped you a little bit!~ i’d love to see what you can come up with. ♥
anon asked for fonts and editing techniques so here we go!
fonts - i really try to avoid fonts because i’m not good with them at all… lol, but here are my top 5. i would do a top 10 but i don’t think i even use that many… :(
√ haxrcorp (i use this for the watermark)
√ orator
√ blue highway
√ century gothic
√ fortuna dot
techniques - i’m not really sure if i use techniques… orz. but i do use certain things quite frequently.
selective coloring - i use photoshop so i’m not sure if other image editors have an option similar to this. i usually mess around with the reds and yellows to give a more pink and yellow color to the image. if needed, i’ll also change neutrals and blacks to darken it.
gradients - i’ve only gotten addicted to gradients now OTL. i would suggest experimenting with different colors and layer types because it will all depend on your preference and the image.
soft light - i think i use this in almost every image i edit. either the image itself is duplicated and put to soft layer, or i use color fill with brown or dark pink/purple set to soft layer. it gives the image a sort of glow while enhancing the colors.
hopefully these will help someone out there. experimenting is always key so you can find what suits your tastes and style. happy editing! :)
p.s. if this helped, i’d love to see what you can come up with!
the limit is kind of a pain, right? >< usually i try to keep the gif as short as possible, and then you want to delete at least every other frame, or frames that kind of look the same. also try to keep the gif as dark as possible because that helps lower the size! most of the time i end up decreasing the colors just a little bit - and sometimes using diffusion instead of pattern will decrease the size too. just play around with the settings! hope that helped. :)

specifically for this edit~ i use photoshop, so i’m not sure how this would translate into other programs, sorry!
i don’t use curves often, but they can be a great way to brighten up your image (as opposed to using a screen layer or brightness/contrast layer), as i did with this edit. i don’t use too many points (only one or two), but you can mess around to get different results.
levels can help darken your image (i think, anyway, LOL). i usually just mess around with the number in the first field to make it darker (about +10 or +20 should do it).
selective coloring is where all the magic happens - at least, for me! i only mess around with red, yellow, sometimes neutral, and black, but you can try others depending on the image you’re working with. i would advise using the sliders and just play around because different images will need different adjustments.
for this edit, i used a few gradients. they were all black and white. to brighten up the center of the image, i made a gradient by filling the canvas with black and using a regular circle brush (white color) in the middle. then i took that and pasted it into my edit, changed the layer type to soft light, and adjusted the opacity. i also used a different type of gradient, on top of all the other layers - just a basic one which was black at the bottom and white at the top. then i set that to screen and lowered the opacity until i got the result i wanted.
i know this wasn’t exactly a precise tutorial and it’s sometimes hard to describe in words what i mean, but i hope this helped a little! remember, sometimes it’s just fun to mess around and see what you get. if anyone has any questions, please drop them in the ask box. :)
okay, um! i’ll try to help you. :) try lowering the frames just a bit - sometimes even one frame makes a big difference. see if you can make parts of the gif or the coloring darker because that will lower the size as well. and also, you probably know, lower the colors but not too much. it takes a bit of playing around to get the desired effect, especially when you factor in coloring and other effects as well, but i hope that helped a little! ♥
